Sudbury Recalls Quarterly Game Allocation From OLG

Ontario Lottery and gaming company is once again sending quarterly casino payments to local host communities. Since it is home to Gateway Casino Sudbury, Greater Sudbury is once again on the receiving end. For the quarter ending March 31, 2023, the city received nearly CA$445,000 in payments.

Under the provincial donation agreement, the Ontario government must allocate a portion of its casino revenue to the area hosting the land-based gambling site. Payment is determined using a standardized method that applies uniformly to all provincial game facilities and is characterized by phased planning of game revenues for each region.

Crown Agency has provided Sudbury with its latest quarterly payments covering January 1-March 31, 2023 to host Gateway Casino Sudbury. In the fourth quarter, the allocation was Ca$444,925, compared to OLG's total for the entire fiscal year 2022-23 compared to CA$1929,529. Since the opening of the concert hall, the amount is close to C$48 million.

Ontario Finance Minister Peter Betlenfalby described the amount paid through OLG's local government donation agreement as contributing to the development of a strong community that provides a better standard of living for individuals and families. The revenue generated helps support local initiatives and essential public facilities, and thus plays an important role in improving living conditions in the host communities.

In addition to Sudbury and other Ontario municipalities, Wasaga Beach has recently received approval for a fourth-quarter payment for hosting Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach. In the last quarter of the fiscal year, the property brought $286,000 in tax game revenue to the town. The first cost of attracting the casino was CA$152,000, which was awarded in January 2023.

Under the current contract, the town will receive 5.25% of its first CA$65 million and 3% of its next CA$13.55 million for slot operations. Now, the town council is tasked with finding where to invest it. A draft of how to spend casino revenue has been submitted to the previous council. Meanwhile, revenue is added to the casino's reserve account

Sandra Watts, the town's director of communications and intergovernmental relations, agreed at a meeting on 25 May 2023 that a second draft of the policy should be presented to the committee. She also noted that the draft would review last fall's survey, as well as feedback from lawmakers, which asked locals about how the money should be spent. 슬롯머신

Niagara Falls Receives Checks

Meanwhile, OLG's round payment does not end here. Niagara Falls received a fair share for hosting two of the most premium casinos in the United States. The city paid CA$3.93 million in Q4 to host Crown Corporation's Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara.
